Adoption

Adoption

When children are unable to live with their parents or family members the local authority may apply for a Permanence Order or Adoption Order to ensure that a child can stay in a ‘permanent’ home and have the safety and stability this will provide.

A Permanence Order being granted means that people with Parental Responsibilities and Parental Rights will no longer be able to decide where the child should live.  A Permanence Order will enable foster carers/other carers to make decisions affecting the child’s life.

An Adoption Order gives the adoptive parents full Parental Responsibilities and Parental Rights in respect of the child.

It is important to obtain proper advice at the earliest opportunity if you wish to oppose these type of orders. We are able to assist you with advice and representation in these matters.

Alternatively, if you wish to pursue an Adoption Order we can assist you in the process from start to finish.
